You bring clean, complete, and gently used items from home that you no longer need, and you take home something new-to-you that someone else brought.

A Few Friendly Reminders:
- Bring Your Own Bag: In the spirit of sustainability, we won’t be providing bags at the event. Please bring your own to carry home your new finds!
- Early Drop-Off for Shunyi Families: For your convenience, families living in or near the Shunyi area can drop off their swap items at our office in advance. From March 23, 2026, you can bring items to: Room 901, Unit 2, Building 21, Shuangxing North, Shunyi District. We’ll bring them to the event for you!

We want you to feel right at home at the Pass it on! Swap Market. Here’s everything you need to know to join in the fun.
Absolutely! We encourage it. The swap market is a wonderful experience for children to participate in
choosing items to pass on and discovering new treasures to bring home
Yes! We’ll be heading to the nearby park from 1:00 to 3:30 PM to lead some games and activities for
the kids. It’s a great way for them to burn off energy while parents continue swapping.
Plenty! In addition to the swap, we have fun challenges throughout the day—during the opening
ceremony (at 12 noon), at 2 pm, and just before we close—where you can earn vouchers for our
upcoming Tayrona events. It’s also the perfect time to learn all about our new activities for the year
and pick up some Tayrona souvenirs!
Great question! The golden rule is: only bring items you would be comfortable giving to a friend.
We happily accept:
- Clothing & Accessories: Casual and formal wear, hoodies, denim, sneakers, winter coats, hats, shoes, and handbags.
- Toys & Games: Wooden building blocks, LEGO bricks, puzzles, stuffed animals, and art supplies.
- Small Household Items: Kitchen appliances, mugs, plates, pots, pans, utensils, home decor, tools, plant pots, storage bins, laundry hampers, and mirrors.
- Baby/Children Items: Toys, games, and gently used clothes.
- Academic Supplies:Fiction, literature, non-fiction, textbooks, notebooks, and stationery.
- Sports Gear: Unused or gently used equipment.
- “Free-for-all”: Items that can be taken by anyone without ticket
To keep the swap fun for everyone, we cannot accept:
- Broken or Dirty Items: Clothes with stains/rips, or broken electronics.
- Large Items: Furniture, large appliances, or TVs.
- Personal Care Items: Used toiletries, makeup, underwear, socks, or swimsuits.
Please make sure all items are clean, functional, and in good condition. Clothes should be freshly laundered, electronics should work, and shoes should have soles and be paired up!
If it’s your first time, don’t worry—it’s easy!
Step 1: Look for items at home
Find those clean, gently used items that are ready for a new home. There’s no set limit, but bringing 5–10 items gives everyone a good variety. You’re also welcome to bring items for anyone to take, no swap needed!
Step 2: Bring them to the event
When you arrive, place your items in the collection area where they’ll be sorted by category.
Here’s how the swapping works: For each item you bring, you’ll receive a ticket. You can then use that ticket to “pay” for an item you’d like to take home.
(Optional: Fill out a label for any item with a special story or care instructions—it adds to the fun!)
Step 3: Discover something new
Now for the best part: browsing! Take your time exploring the items brought by others. You never know what useful treasure or interesting story you might find.
Leftover items from our swap market will be donated to the local charity: Roundabout. Roundabout is a charity selling donated second-hand items to help impovert children with expensive medical treatments.
